Julia Brooke describes herself as a trainer specialising in difficult horses and Vasco D’Ycy proved a great advertisement for her skills.

The eight-year-old made light of a 588-day absence from the track to take care of six rivals in the 2m4½f handicap hurdle.

Brooke, who has the invaluable assistance of her jockey-son Henry and his younger brother Danny, was confident Vasco D’Ycy was ready to do himself justice.
