Henry Brooke's steely determination to recover so quickly from horrific injuries was rewarded when the jockey landed the 188Bet Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase on Definitly Red.

Brooke was placed in an induced coma after puncturing a lung and breaking ribs in a fall at Hexham in October but returned to action the following month.

He came agonisingly close to a fairytale comeback with a short-head second in this month's Becher Chase and here got his just deserts in the track's Grade 3 midwinter feature.
