'Brilliant' Foolaad makes it five for 2018 to the delight of emotional Bowring

Foolaad, who began 2018 with four wins on the spin, made it a famous five with victory in the card's feature, the £35,000 Catterick Dash.

Veteran trainer Roy Bowring watched the race from home owing to a pair of dodgy knees – "I only go racing if it's local," he said – but was nonetheless chuffed with the result.

Ridden by Liam Keniry, the Darley-bred gelding never raced for Godolphin but has proved a lucrative money-spinner for Bowring and owner Keith Nicholls.
