Brian Hughes drew level with Richard Johnson at the top of the jockeys' standings with a four-timer at Carlisle, two of which came for trainer Nicky Richards.

The latter, who saddled four winners across the card, provided the first of the Hughes quartet in the opening 2m1f novice hurdle when Big Bad Bear landed the odds.

The success completed a productive 24 hours for owners Tor Side Racing, who had combined with the successful trainer and jockey duo at Doncaster the previous day when My Old Gold carried their colours to glory in the finale.
