What looked like a humdinger of a beginners' chase on paper did not disappoint as classy novice hurdler Brewin'upastorm pegged back Good Boy Bobby in the final strides to make a winning debut over fences at Carlisle.

Fourth in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and runner-up in the Grade 1 Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree last season, Brewin'upastorm has the profile to fly high over fences and there was lots to get excited about as he surged from last to first under champion jockey Richard Johnson.

"I'm absolutely over the moon," said in-form winning trainer Olly Murphy. "I stressed to everyone that he'd come on for the run and we rode him accordingly.
