Breeze for Riyazan sets Awesome August in motion

The marketing gurus have dubbed the package of five meetings coming up at the Curragh during this month 'Awesome August', and who is to say that one of the Group races for juveniles later in the month will not contain Riyazan, as the Michael Halford-trained newcomer bolted up in the juvenile maiden.

A hot-looking maiden it was too – in the parade ring they looked as nice a bunch as has been seen in any maiden all season.

Riyazan looked very much the second string of the Halford pair, but in the hands of Pat Smullen he travelled well and quickened up impressively to lead.
