Brave win gives Kilcarry the green light for Listowel

Templemore trainer John Ryan's summer has been mostly a case of so near but yet so far, but the victory of Kilcarry Bridge in the Grade B handicap chase at Killarney on Saturday may indeed indicate the turning of a corner.

According to Ryan himself his horses are flying at the moment, in good time for his favoured Listowel festival, and this horse put himself in line for a crack at next month's Kerry National with a brave display of jumping and galloping from the front which his rivals were unable to match.

The only danger from the final fence was a loose horse coming in the opposite direction in the last fifty yards, but rider Danny Mullins was very alert in taking evasive action, and in the end he was value for a little more than the length margin of victory over The Winkler.
