Brando is bound for a bigger stage after recording an impressive yet narrow first Group success in which he so nearly fluffed his lines.

The winning margin of a short head in no way reflected his true superiority after he cantered to the front at halfway in the 5f Coral Charge and travelled so easily jockey Tom Eaves was taking glances over his shoulder.

But at the end Brando became involved in a more desperate scramble for the winning post after Monsieur Joe cut into his advantage and just failed to catch the winner as the pair crossed the line five lengths clear of the next finisher.
