Veteran trainer Milton Bradley enjoyed a welcome winner as Compton Prince gave him a first success in 119 days, ending a 65-runner losing streak in the process, when getting up late to land the 5½f handicap.

From stall one he looked well placed to build on his third-place finish over course and distance last week, but after being hampered and losing his position over four furlongs out, jockey Robert Winston was made to sit and suffer.

Winston's mount was still short of room inside the final two furlongs but, with his corner ready to throw in the white towel, he escaped the melee, turned on the turbos and deep inside the final furlong reeled in Captain Ryan and Josephine Gordon.
