Bowen eyeing Scottish Grand National tilt with back-to-form Henri Parry Morgan

From West Wales to Scotland – that is the plan for Henri Parry Morgan after the Peter Bowen-trained ten-year-old bounced back to form by steering a wide course to victory in the 3m4f handicap chase.

The convincing success represented a change in fortune for Bowen’s ten-year-old as he had been out of sorts since a comeback second at Newbury last November, but the trainer declared the win was not a great surprise as he carried a bit of stable confidence.

He explained: “It’s an amazing thing with horses how they can turn things around in a fairly short space of time. He worked really well last Tuesday, which is something he had not been doing recently, and we decided to fit him with blinkers for the first time – it seems they might have had a good effect as well.”
