Boost for Charlie Longsdon as Eclair On Line sets up Grand National week
Sunday: Hereford
Charlie Longsdon has a big week in front of him with Snow Leopardess in the Randox Grand National on Saturday and he was on the mark with fellow grey Eclair On Line in the 3m1f conditional jockeys' handicap chase.
Jockey Lilly Pinchin was content to track longtime leader Big Difference on the well-backed 11-4 joint-favourite for much of the trip before striking for home on the final circuit.
The likeable gelding, who was a faller at Wincanton on his previous start, did not put a foot wrong when going on to win by seven lengths.
The jockey, who was registering her 36th win, told Sky Sports: "Eclair On Line is a pocket rocket. I was keen to get his jumping going after his fall last time and once he got warmed up he was brilliant."
Longsdon added: "The pressure is on with Snow Leopardess at the moment, but it will be off this time next week. She's in great form and they tell me the rain is coming, which will help but she has won a Grade 2 on better ground."
Family fortunes
Jonjo O'Neill and his son Jonjo Jr kept their good run going with a double, which included a convincing first win over fences for Gosuatri in the 2m3f handicap chase.
The 4-1 chance was assisted by the fitting of blinkers for the first time when going clear to deny Gouet Des Bruyeres.
The duo also bagged the 2m5f novice handicap chase with Orrisdale and the winning trainer said of his prospects of capturing the Grand National with Cloth Cap at the weekend: "It's not looking good as there is rain forecast for Friday and Saturday and he wants good ground ideally."
