Not Another Muddle earned himself a crack at the £60,000 bonus available to winners of certain designated Plumpton novice chases should they follow up in any chase at the Cheltenham Festival when upsetting the odds laid on Fixe Le Kap in a £10,000 contest.

In betting terms it was not quite an upset of Sports Personality of the Year proportions but, like Anthony Joshua, who had been as short as 1-10 before finishing only fourth on Sunday night, Fixe Le Kap was long odds-on and widely expected to win.

The 1-5 chance jumped better than Not Another Muddle, who made two significant errors down the far side, but he was a sitting duck for the Gary Moore-trained winner from three out and had no answer when Jamie Moore popped the question approaching the last.
