Blue Point's Diamond Jubilee performance as good as anything in race since 2010
While not quite hitting the heights of his King's Stand-winning performance, Blue Point confirmed his position as the season's leading sprinter in completing the big sprint double in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes with a Racing Post Rating of 123.
It looked like he may even improve on his Tuesday run given how well he travelled tracking the speedy Kachy, but Ascot's stiff six furlongs is far enough for him and strong finishing runner-up Dream Of Dreams was in front a few strides past the line. This rates a clear career best from Dream Of Dreams, worth an RPR of 122, but he had looked improved in winning his two previous starts this year and this strongly confirmed that view.
The Diamond Jubilee form rates 3lb below the 126 of Blue Point's King's Stand run, mirroring the figures of 127 and 124 achieved by 2003 double winner Choisir. Choisir came up just short in trying to add the July Cup to his haul, but there is no Oasis Dream among this season's three-year-olds and Blue Point will head to Newmarket the clear form choice.
