Trevor Whelan has had some memorable wins over hurdles on the tough Lil Rockerfeller. Those days are now behind him as he has decided to concentrate on the Flat, and he gained his biggest win in that sphere to date when partnering Blakeney Point to win the £40,000 32Red Stand Cup for trainer Roger Charlton.

The five-year-old is talented, had run well to finish fifth off a mark of 105 in last month's Sky Bet Ebor, and this slower ground was ideal. Coming up the inside rail in the straight, he ran on in good style to beat the tough Hochfeld by a length and a half.

Whelan said: "He stays well and I went to the inside as he hangs to the left. This ground suited him."
