Here was an afternoon filled with the feelgood factor – and if you happen to be Rachael Blackmore, life must feel very good indeed.

Top-class racing deserves to yield top-class stories. There are currently few finer jump racing stories than the one in which Blackmore plays the role of central character. Another marvellous chapter was written, and two more Grade 1 prizes were landed, on a day when the jockey and her chief supporter Henry de Bromhead were left with an extremely pleasant problem to ponder.

There is no doubt where Notebook heads next. Having won the Arkle at Leopardstown he will head for the Arkle at Cheltenham. Simple. Not so simple is attempting to determine whether Honeysuckle should seek to follow up her PCI Irish Champion Hurdle success with victory in the Champion Hurdle proper.
