Joe Tuite is not getting carried away by the prospect of having a first runner at the Cheltenham Festival, but that’s where he could be heading after Black Kalanisi won the 2m3½f limited handicap chase under Daryl Jacob.

Black Kalanisi’s success came in the first of four bonus series races held at Plumpton where each winner could net a £40,000 windfall should they go on to land any chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Lambourn trainer has had more than 150 winners on the Flat, but had gone 873 days without a jumps winner having saddled only 16 over obstacles.
