Whether it was down to Brexit or not, there was a lot of talk about weights and measures, kilos and lengths, after Big Orange retained the Qatar Goodwood Cup in deteriorating weather.

What is certain is that winning owners Bill and Tim Gredley and trainer Michael Bell are looking outside Europe for future riches with a battler who raised the roof in much the same manner as previous multiple winners of the top staying race at the festival meeting.

Big Orange joins an illustrious list of dual scorers, from Proverb, Le Moss, Further Flight, Persian Punch and Yeats through to Double Trigger, whose back-to-back victories in 1997 and 1998 made it three in all.
