Ladies' Day began earlier than ever in the Midlands this year with many struggling to get the trip off-course as well as on it with the bars open for 12 hours.

Soft ground led to some fields finishing strung out, including the 6f fillies' handicap which provided a welcome winner for jockey Adam Beschizza.

The Newmarket-based lightweight knows all about struggles and was registering just his 14th winner of the year on Steph Hollinshead's Spirit Of Rosanna.
