Beggy adds third Group victory to season resume as Flag waves goodbye

Padraig Beggy has certainly experienced an interesting season. He has ridden only three winners, but all three have come in Group contests.

He won the Group 3 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on Hydrangea in April, then came Classic success in the Derby on 40-1 shot Wings Of Eagles, and here arrived another Group 3 strike, this time on Flag Of Honour in the Eyrefield Stakes.

Beggy, whose three wins have all come for boss Aidan O'Brien, said: "I ride Flag Of Honour out at Ballydoyle and it's great to ride another winner for Aidan on such a big day in his career.
