Barman calls time with middle leg of Cromwell three-timer in Perth feature

The drinks were on Callthebarman after the Gavin Cromwell-trained five-year-old stayed on strongly under Sean Flanagan to get the better of Raven’s Tower in the feature 2m handicap chase at Perth.

However, many punters appeared to favour Cromwell’s other runner Jurby as he was well supported from a morning price of 13-2 down to 5-2 on course but backers soon knew their fate as he threw in a laboured effort when finishing last of the six finishers.

Flanagan told Sky Sports Racing: “It’s just my second ride at the course and this is a nice prize to win. Gavin’s horses are in really good form and this one jumped really well. He was a bit keen but settled well and came home strongly up the straight.”
