Bargain-buy Sharp Rise quick to put owner in profit
When owner Robert Aplin picked up the £32,000 tab for Sharp Rise at the sales in May, little did he think the nine-year-old would recoup the purchase price with interest in just over two months.
But that has proved the case as the gelding made it three wins in four races since joining Charlie Longsdon with a hard-earned success in the 2m4f handicap chase, accruing more than £40,000 in prize-money in the process.
Longsdon said: “Robert only bought him as fun horse for the summer around the likes of Newton Abbot, but he has topped all expectations by winning three races and running second on his other start, so everybody's really happy.
