Ballycasey gallops to glory in Gowran feature to make Mullins smile inside

Willie Mullins is too much of a gentleman to admit it, but Ireland's champion trainer must have been giggling inside as Ballycasey bounded clear of Road To Riches, one of the prized possessions of recently-departed owner Michael O'Leary, to land the Grade 2 PWC Chase by 11 lengths.

It has been an unpredictable week in the world of Irish jump racing and the equally unpredictable Ballycasey produced one of those flashy front-running performances we all knew he was capable of. The problem is we never know when to expect it.

This was one of the flamboyant grey's going days. He jumped spectacularly and the smile on Ruby Walsh's face said it all as he reflected on the performance.
