Ballycasey defies conditions to land Grade 2 Red Mills Chase

Just four went to post for the Grade 2 Red Mills Chase, and while odds-on favourite Ballycasey ultimately recorded a convincing success, for most of the contest it appeared to be anything but routine.

Ruby Walsh never appeared at ease during the race and for parts of it his mount definitely laboured on the ground. But with his market rival Clarcam never really able to take the race by the scruff of the neck, Walsh was able to keep his mount in the race with some good jumping and eventually wore down Gordon Elliott's chaser.
