Bailey's Severn Bridge agony eased by victory of Kilfilum Cross

After taking the wrong turn on the way to the course, Kim Bailey’s day finally improved when Kilfilum Cross ran out an impressive winner of the 2m7½f novice hurdle.

Bailey blamed a lack of concentration for paying the toll for the Severn Bridge twice on his way to the Welsh circuit, where Kilfilum Cross made every yard in the hands of Dave Crosse to thrash This Is It by 21 lengths.

He explained: "I took the wrong turning and found myself heading for the new Severn Bridge and ended up having to pay the toll to cross after which I turned around before heading back up the motorway and crossing on the old Severn Bridge.
