When a bunch of football fans got together and bought a £10,000 horse thoughts of Cheltenham probably weren’t even dreams at the bottom of the beer glass.

But they’re thinking that way now after Sussex Ranger, owned by QPR and Brighton supporters, stormed off with the £20,000 juvenile hurdle to make it two wins from two.

The Fred Winter and Triumph Hurdle were being spoken about after Sussex Ranger powered to a 14-length win under Jamie Moore, prompting tears of joy from plenty of the 10-strong Tongdean Partnership, who include an IT specialist and a plumber.
