Honours were even between the two leaders in what promises to be an enthralling battle for the Stobart Flat jockeys' championship, with reigning champion Silvestre de Sousa and title pretender Jim Crowley both on the mark

Crowley struck first, on Babyfact in the 5f handicap, getting up near the finish to beat De Sousa on favourite Ebjaar by half a length for a win that could become all the more important if the duel becomes seriously close.

The mare’s success took him to 66 in the championship race, with De Sousa then on 73 and then a gap back to James Doyle, who went to 59 with a winner later on the card.
