Baby Bach was ambitiously purchased as a potential Scottish Grand National contender and his trainer is hopeful a smooth victory will be the launchpad for much better things.

The strapping grey is built for chasing and Brian Hughes guided him to a comfortable five-length defeat of the favourite Rainy City in the 3m novice chase.

Baby Bach was winning for the first time over fences and trainer Stuart Crawford is confident the seven-year-old has plenty more to offer.
