Austrian School poised for big season after impressive Queen's Cup victory

He will do well to upstage his half-brother Tiger Roll but Austrian School kept family fortunes in the ascendancy as he seized the biggest purse of the day in Britain by landing the £100,700 Queen’s Cup.

Just two weeks after Tiger Roll triumphed for a second time in the Grand National, his younger sibling turned the competitive-looking 1m6f handicap into a procession, sweeping clear from the two-furlong marker to defeat Ulster by six lengths.

Owner Jim Walker, originally from Renfrewshire but now based in Hong Kong, could not believe his luck when snapping up Austrian School at the Tattersalls sales.
