At last: Shamonix gets it right to get off the mark at her 13th attempt

It has been a long time coming but just as her trainer Mark Usher predicted the filly Shamonix finally got off the mark when coming late under the promising seven-pound claimer Darragh Keenan to land the 1m½f handicap.

It was her 13th attempt to win a race, and she had never finished in the first four previously, but she got it right this time in the colours of the Mark Usher Racing Club.

Her trainer said: "We have struggled with her but she goes well at home. She has galloped well with Born To Please recently and she couldn't get past her. I thought one day she might come in at a decent price."
