Ascot and Galway could beckon for Arcadian Sunrise after impressive success

Dungarvan trainer John Queally could well be dreaming of Galway glory later in the summer after the Denis O'Regan-ridden Arcadian Sunrise turned a competitive 2m handicap hurdle into a small rout.

Sporting the colours of the trainer's wife Miriam, the son of Arcadio cut through a tightly bunched field after the second-last and drew clear in very taking fashion to win by six lengths from the talented if frustrating Future Proof and last month's festival winner Cousin Harry.

Arcadian Sunrise would need to go up a bit in the weights to get into a race like the Galway Hurdle, but the handicapper might just be willing to oblige after that performance.

Queally said: "He has that bit of Flat speed. He'll probably get a good hike for that, but it might just get him into a good handicap hurdle. He'll probably mix it. We were going to look at the Ascot Stakes. It's two weeks away and we might be pushing it, but he didn't seem to take much out of himself. We'll have a look at that first and see."

Tiger rounds off fine week for De Bromhead

Another fine week for Henry de Bromhead, highlighted by winning the Group 3 Henry II Stakes on the Flat at Sandown on Thursday with Lismore, could hardly have ended on a more positive note as Tiger Voice and Le Musigny gave the stable a one-two in the feature Ladbrokes Handicap Chase.

Rider Darragh O'Keeffe brought Tiger Voice stylishly from the back of the field to lead before the last, and despite opening the door for his Rachael Blackmore-ridden stable companion with an awkward jump at the final fence, the son of Poet's Voice picked up again on the run to the line to beat Le Musigny by three-parts of a length.

O'Keeffe, who rode his first Grade 1 winner for the stable on A Plus Tard at Leopardstown in December, said: "He travelled well and jumped super the whole way. He pecked a bit at the back of the last, he just screwed at it, but in fairness to him he picked up well."

Mullins dominant

A treble for Willie Mullins meant that he pretty much picked up where he left off at the festival last month.

Nephew Danny Mullins remains the season's leading rider as he notched an early double on the card with the victories of Sapphire Lady in a depleted opening mares chase and followed up an hour later when 2018 Coral Cup winner Bleu Berry came good in the 2m3½f conditions hurdle, his second run back from a long absence.

The best might have been saved until last, though, as another expensive purchase by Cheveley Park Stud from the point-to-point field, Grangeclare West, bolted up under Jody Townend in the bumper, the second such winner for owner and trainer this week after Classic Getaway scored at Tipperary on Tuesday.

"He's a gorgeous horse but still quite green, and I'd say he would have been even more impressive if he had something to race with him," said the winning rider.

Clearly a name to look out for.
