Arthur's a gift horse for late-starting conditional Humphries

The race is not always to the swift – as Arthur's Gift and his rider showed with victory in the feature £25,000 hurdle.

It was only in the final 100 yards that the 13-8 favourite got up under Tom Humphries, who has come late to professional race-riding but signalled that he's ready to make an impact himself.

Humphries, 24, was gaining the richest of seven career victories, all achieved since he joined Nigel Twiston-Davies.
