Aramon sparks celebrations with red-hot show in Future Champions Novice Hurdle
Thoughts are very much on the major festivals for Willie Mullins and the Supreme Horse Racing Club after Aramon produced an astounding turn of foot to put the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown to bed in just a few strides.
No matter the venue, the Supreme owners tend to be full on when celebrating a winner, but Ruby Walsh was met with particular fervour as he returned to the winner’s enclosure and club members jostled for position beside their latest star.
Aramon not only delivered on the track to provide Mullins with a fourth straight win in the race but stood like a lamb with his adoring owners, who now have a general 14-1 shot for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle on their hands, from as big as 33-1.

Mullins said: "He'll have to go down that Grade 1 route now and that looks his trip on nice ground. It's nice to win a Grade 1 for the Supreme Racing Club."
Aramon – sent to post a lesser-fancied 6-1 shot behind 9-4 favourite Triplicate and stablemate Sancta Simona at 5-2 – tanked through the race but connections would have feared the worst when he was caught in a pocket turning for home.
However, once out in the clear Aramon ranged upsides Sancta Simona jumping the last, before sprinting clear on the run-in to win by ten lengths going away.
Walsh said: “He jumped really well and they went a really good gallop, it suited him and he quickened really well from the back of the second last. He's getting better and it was a good performance."
