Amber Flush puts a smile back on Ellam's face

It has been a testing couple of months for trainer Clare Ellam but the cards finally fell in her favour as Amber Flush sprung a 66-1 surprise for the stable in the 2m7f handicap hurdle.

Back in April Ellam made the “mistake” of running Too Many Diamonds in a seller at Taunton, where he was claimed by Dan Skelton, for whom he rattled of a four-timer in seven days the following month.

Then in June, Ellam lost stable favourite Just Marion after she broke loose while blindfolded at Brighton, suffering what proved to be fatal injuries after crashing through a rail, so few would begrudge her this short-head success.
