Altior will be a major factor in eagerly anticipated and divisive Champion Chase

Two things can be said with near certainty after Saturday's action. Firstly, the Champion Chase is going to be the most eagerly anticipated and divisive race of the festival. Secondly, Altior will absolutely be a factor.

The winner of the last two Champion Chases returned to the minimum trip and did exactly what we are so used to. From his first breathing operation in November 2017 until his defeat by Cyrname a little over two months ago, Altior's races have generally followed a formula.

He has erred on the safe side at his fences, looked in trouble between three out and the last and then the afterburners have kicked in and he has won well enough.
