Adam Farragher remains on upward curve with victory on first ride at Catterick
Adam Farragher is reaping the rewards after moving from Ireland to take up an apprentice role with William Haggas and he scored on his first ride at Catterick with a front-running victory on Nuance in the 7f nursery.
The West Cork native rode his 11th winner of the year, eight of which have come for Haggas, as he guided the favourite to a neck success in the feature race.
"I came over from Ireland earlier in the season and it was through Ted Durcan that I got the job. I was really hoping to come to Mr Haggas and I'm really grateful he took me on – I can't believe the opportunities I'm getting," he said.
"Riding in the Cheveley Park silks is a huge feather in my cap and hopefully it can benefit my career."
Farragher, who rode out his 7lb claim this season, has his sights set on the future.
He added: "I'll try and hold on to my claim for next year and use that to build contacts and hopefully get some nice winners for the boss."
Curtis back with double
Ben Curtis made a quick return to the saddle having been too unwell to ride at Ayr on Tuesday and landed a double.
He struck early when guiding the Sean Woods-trained Princess Shabnam to victory in the opening 5f novice – a first success at the track for the trainer – and followed up on Ginato in divison two of the 6f handicap.
