A victory nine years in the making: Hussey finally breaks duck with Macaban City

When Ger Hussey began training in 2011 he would not have expected to be waiting until 2020 for his first winner.

Yet that was the case for Hussey, from the tiny village of Tyrellspass in County Westmeath, who, after 47 runners over jumps and 28 on the Flat, finally struck gold when Mark Gallagher rode Macaban City to victory in division two of the 1m4f handicap.

"That’s my first winner," Hussey beamed. "I’ve been training a while and took a break from it in 2015 until 2017. Thankfully this lad has obliged and it’s a big help."
