'A very unique experience' - Ian Williams celebrates Ludlow and Dubai double
Friday: Ludlow
Trainer Ian Williams celebrated a rare across-the-world double when Tide Times continued his excellent Ludlow record with success in the 3m1½f handicap chase just 25 minutes after Enemy scored in Dubai.
Enemy scooped £50,000 at Meydan in the 1m4f handicap with a shock success under Richard Kingscote before Tide Times won just under £8,500 when winning by half a length under Charlie Todd, taking his course record at the track to three wins from four starts.
"It's been a unique experience, but it's a good one to say the least," said Williams. "Enemy has a big spring ahead of him and he'll have options to go to the Red Sea Handicap and the Dubai Gold Cup.
"Tide Times deserved to pick up another race there. He has an amazing record at Ludlow but it's bizarre as he does jump left-handed and looks like he wants to be going the other way around."
Happy new year
Jane Williams continued her fantastic start to 2023 when Romancero Le Dun defied a penalty to gamely land the 2m juvenile hurdle.
The four-year-old took Williams' new year record to three winners from just five runners, which also included two runner-up efforts.
Dancer delivers
Fire Dancer defied an 815-day absence to narrowly win the 2m4f novice handicap chase on his British debut under Charlie Deutsch.
