Fahey loving life by the sea
Even by Richard Fahey's ever-loftier standards, this has been a stunning month. Donjuan Triumphant was a Group 2 winner at Maisons-Laffitte before running well at Saint-Cloud last autumn, so perhaps his return to form when chasing home Signs Of Blessing in the Prix Maurice de Gheest shouldn’t have come as a surprise. A week later Ribchester produced a thrilling final surge to see off the classy Vadamos in what is always one of the deepest all-age mile fields of the year in the Prix Jacques le Marois. Fahey revealed that Ribchester had been prepped with the idea of taking in both the Sussex Stakes - in which he rattled home for third - and the Marois just 18 days later, a feat which ranks as one of the training performances of the season.
