It was Red Rum day at Carlisle and it was fitting that Donald McCain, son of four-time Grand National-winning trainer Ginger, was on the scoresheet with a double.

Despite swishing his tail on the run-in Derintoher Yank took the 2m1f novice hurdle to end the unbeaten record of odds-on favourite Mister Kit.
