7lb claimer Parkinson pleased to be back among winners on strong day for Appleby
Wednesday: Southwell
Erika Parkinson ended her five-month wait for a winner with a fine front-running ride on Eagle Eyed Freddie in the mile classified stakes, which provided trainer Mick Appleby with a rapid ten-minute across-the-card double.
The four-year-old shot clear in the home straight to get off the mark at the tenth time of asking to give 7lb claimer Parkinson her first winner since February and a second of the year.
Parkinson told Sky Sports Racing: "I've been with Mick for just over two years now and he gives me plenty of opportunities. I've not had a winner for a little while now so it's nice to get one back on the board, especially with this horse. We needed it and it was great to get it together."
Appleby had scored with Come On Girl at Lingfield immediately prior to Eagle Eyed Freddie's success, while he also had a second and a third with his other two other runners at the Surrey track.
"It's not been too bad of a day," he said. "This lad had a few issues, but he's a nice horse and he'll come on for this. I can see him jumping a few hurdles."
Fine form
Richard Hughes continued his red-hot form when Schwartz justified favouritism in the 1m6f handicap.
The four-year-old's one and three quarter-length success made it four winners from Hughes' last seven runners and took the trainer's strike-rate over the last fortnight to 27 per cent.
