17-year-old Jack Tudor has something to cry about after Welsh National win
One Welsh riding sensation has already made a name for himself this season and a month after Ben Jones tore away with the Ladbrokes Trophy on De Rasher Counter, 17-year-old Jack Tudor – a demon in the point-to-point sphere and tipped as a star of the future – was the focus of attention after a bold and courageous spin on Potters Corner in the £150,000 Coral Welsh Grand National.
"There was no doubt Jack would ride," said the gelding's trainer Christian Williams, who employs the teenager and reckons he could follow the path of James Bowen, another youthful Welsh Welsh National winner of recent times.
Tudor's family is steeped in pointing – cousin James Tudor landed the Kim Muir aboard High Chimes at the 2008 Cheltenham Festival – and he joked he probably first sat on a horse the day he was born.
