Monday: Southwell

Tom Scudamore chalked up his 50th winner of the season when partnering Via Dolorosa to victory in the 3m½f handicap chase.

Scudamore was reaching the milestone for the 16th consecutive season, having last failed to make it to the half-century mark in 2005-06.

Via Dolorosa, who made all to score at 16-1, was having his second run since a wind operation at the end of January, and winning trainer David Pipe was pleased with the win.

"It was a good performance, and good front-running from Scudamore," said Pipe.

"He has benefited from having a wind op and it has given him the confidence to gallop all the way to the line."

Costly Kyntara

The Kim Bailey-trained Kyntara is proving extremely expensive to follow after being turned over at odds-on for the third time in four runs when beaten by the Charlie Longsdon-trained Hector Javilex in the 2m4½f maiden hurdle.

Hector Javilex was having his first start since wind surgery in January and powered clear of 1-2 shot Kyntara from three out to win at 18-1.

Washington posts win

Washington secured a fourth career win when justifying odds-on favouritism in the 2m novice hurdle to continue trainer Olly Murphy's fine campaign.

The six-year-old, who won by three lengths at 4-11, gave Murphy his 78th winner of the season, just four short of his previous best tally of 82 which he achieved in 2018-19.

Lucky 13 for Ardmayle

Ardmayle ended a run of 13 races without a win stretching back almost three years when landing the 2m handicap chase for trainer Ali Stronge.
