Racing fan's A to Z fund-raising effort finishes on Knavesmire

York is at the end of the alphabetical list of courses and it marked the end of an epic journey for Antony Lewis-Crosby, who has been going through the A to Z of British and Irish tracks.

Lewis-Crosby set himself a challenge to raise funds for cystic fibrosis, inspired by his son David, who has the condition and underwent a double lung transplant 12 years ago.

Lewis-Crosby, 69, who lives in London but was brought up just a mile from Leopardstown, started out on his trek in 2009 and he marked the final leg of the voyage by sponsoring the closing apprentice race on the Knavesmire.
