Quinn plotting Pollyanna revenge in Cheveley Park with speedy Signora Cabello

John Quinn believes Signora Cabello is the best two-year-old filly he has ever trained and has his sights set on her turning the tables with Prix Morny conqueror Pretty Pollyanna in Saturday's Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes.

At Deauville, Pretty Pollyanna held sway by three-quarters of a length, but Quinn is pleased with how Signora Cabello has fared since that battle last month and will have Frankie Dettori back on board again.

The trainer said on Tuesday: "The way I look at it is it's a different day and a different racetrack. All we can do is get there in the best shape we can and go from there.

"Her recent work has been pleasing and we're looking forward to Saturday. She's the best two-year-old filly I've ever trained."

Although Signora Cabello does not hold entries for any races beyond six furlongs for now, Quinn is not ruling out trying the filly over further in time.

"I'm thinking beyond this year – she's got a very good mind and I hope she trains on," he added. "She's very relaxed in her races. You never know if a horse will get seven furlongs or a mile until you try them. I wouldn't rule anything out for next year."

While the Cheveley Park is over six furlongs, Pretty Pollyanna is joint-favourite for the bet365 Fillies' Mile later in the season, but trainer Michael Bell warned on Monday she may not line up for the latter, especially if she has another tough race.

"All I would say is that if she has a hard race on Saturday, either in victory or defeat, it would make her running again less likely," Bell said.

"I've always looked forward to stepping her up in trip. She doesn't look like a short runner and I'm very confident that she'll get a mile."

Turning his attention to more immediate matters, Bell is looking forward to the Cheveley Park, and added: "It looks a strong race and Signora Cabello merits a lot of respect.

"She's been very straightforward to deal with from the word go and has danced every dance that we wanted her to since she made her debut."

Pretty Pollyanna was on Tuesday a top-priced 5-4 chance, while Signora Cabello was available at 4-1.

Saturday's meeting at Newmarket could provide more than one clue for next season, and the exciting Kadar is another juvenile to look forward to on the card.

Like Signora Cabello, the colt is owned by Phoenix Thoroughbreds and was a fluent winner on debut at Haydock earlier in the month.

He is now set to jump into Pattern company in the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes, a leap in grade trainer Karl Burke is hopeful the son of Scat Daddy can cope with.

"It's always a concern stepping up in class like this but he's a high-class colt that we think a lot of. This is the type of horse we think he can be," Burke said.

"He's a lovely horse, a top-class horse in the making, but maybe throwing him into a race like this on his second start could be tough. Hopefully he comes through it and whatever happens he's a high-class colt for the future."
