Punchestown festival tips: Friday's best bets from Racing Post experts
Day four of the Punchestown festival is here – but who do our top tipsters fancy most?
French Dynamite
By Paul Kealy
Race: EMS Copiers Novice Handicap Chase (4.15)
Odds: 6-1
Although he handled plenty of cut well enough at times over hurdles, he gives the impression he is much more at home on a quicker surface.
He jumped well last time, as he did when opening his chase account on this track in November, and there's every chance a rise of just 2lb for that latest success is generous.
El Fabiolo
By Brian Sheerin
Race: SalesSense International Novice Hurdle (7.10)
Odds: 8-13
El Fabiolo played his part in serving up one of the races of Aintree's Grand National meeting when narrowly denied by Jonbon in a Grade 1 novice hurdle.
Described by Willie Mullins as up there with the best runners he has fielded in maiden company at Tramore, El Fabiolo looked like a horse with a big future at Aintree and could go some way to fulfilling his potential here.
Scarlet And Dove
By Mark Boylan
Race: Hanlon Concrete Irish EBF Glencarraig Lady Francis Flood Mares Chase (4.50)
Odds: 4-1
Elimay is likely to dominate the market for this Grade 2 mares' chase but there is no guarantee that she will be able to confirm the form of her Cheltenham Festival success over Scarlet And Dove.
Just half a length separated the pair on that occasion, when Scarlet And Dove lacked momentum on landing after the final fence but rallied gamely to be narrowly denied. She would probably prefer slower ground but has the benefit of a 3lb swing at the weights with Elimay, who – despite winning her last two starts – doesn't look to be operating at this same level this season compared to last term.
Friday's Punchestown previews:
4.15 Punchestown: 'His second to Stattler reads very well' - Fighter could frank stablemate's form
5.25 Punchestown: 'He could give her a fright' - can anyone dethrone the mighty Honeysuckle?
6.00 Punchestown: Mullins-trained Champion Hurdle prospect sets the standard in top novice event
