Last season had a strange feel to it after we lost several of the key Derby trials to Covid-19 and it’s great to be back on the Roodee for the May meeting, traditionally one of the more informative weeks on the way to the Epsom Classic, which comes up in exactly one month.

Wirko laid down his claims for a place at Epsom when a last-gasp winner of the Blue Riband Trial at the track last month and Chester has proved a popular next destination for horses who competed in that race over the last decade. So just how have they fared at the May meeting?
