Cheveley Park Stud bought Rumble Inthejungle on Wednesday and will be looking for an instant return on their investment as one of the year's leading two-year-olds features in a high-quality field.

Rumble Inthejungle, who will continue to race in the colours of Rebel Racing Premier, was an impressive winner of last month's Group 3 Molecomb Stakes, leading to his jockey Tom Queally describing him as "one of the best juveniles I've ever ridden".

The Richard Spencer-trained juvenile, who has shown blistering speed in three starts at the minimum trip, may encounter the slowest ground he has raced on.

"It has always been the plan to head here after Goodwood and he's had a nice bit of time between races," said Spencer. "His runs have come on quick ground but with conditions drying out it could be good by the race and I don't have any concerns about the going."

Rumble Inthejungle holds an entry in the Group 1 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes over six furlongs and connections are already eyeing a step up in trip.

"He's gifted with a very natural cruising speed and every time he has run, he's hit the line very strongly," said Spencer. "We've always had in the back of our minds we want to go over six furlongs and we'll look to step him up for his next start."

Can Watson's young guns fire again?

Virtually half of Archie Watson's winners this year have been juveniles and the trainer unleashes two of the pick of his crop in Soldier's Call and Shumookhi.

Soldier's Call has been a revelation for Watson this season after providing the trainer with his first Royal Ascot victory in the Windsor Castle and then a debut Group win in the Prix d'Arenberg at Chantilly 13 days ago.

"He's in good order and has come out of his French race very well – he did it very easily there," said Watson. "He's a Group 3 winner and deserve to take his chance. We need to turn around the Goodwood form with Rumble Inthejungle but he got a bad bump at the start and never looked comfortable on the downhill sections of the course."

Shumookhi, one of four fillies in the field, comes into the race on the back of a three-length Listed success at Newbury.

"She's improving and was very impressive at Newbury and is another talented two-year-old who has been running well all year," said Watson.

Will the drop in trip work for War?

Gimcrack runner-up Legends Of War drops back to five furlongs for the first time after picking up well from off the pace at York.

Trained by John Gosden for Qatar Racing, the Scat Daddy colt has had an interrupted campaign but took a big leap forward last time.

"He ran a blinder in the Gimcrack and it was a step up from his Newbury win," said Qatar Racing spokesman Kevin Darley.

"We feel he retains the speed he showed in his breeze up and the drop back to five will give us some direction as to where we go next year."

What the others say

Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Gossamer Wings
She's a fast filly and has shown good form over the distance. We're happy with her.

Jessica Harrington, trainer of Indigo Balance
He won well at the Curragh and is in good form. If he keeps to a straight line – he can wander – he should run a big race.

Tim Easterby, trainer of Vintage Brut
He's in good form and loves some juice in the ground. Some of his races haven't panned out for him and the ground was too quick for him at York.

Richard Hannon, trainer of Well Done Fox
I have a lot of time for this horse and he’s gradually becoming a talented performer. I don’t think he was disgraced in the Molecomb at Goodwood and then he won nicely at York after that. It looks a pretty hot renewal but our horse is improving with every run and I see no reason why he can’t go well in a race we have a good record in.
