There’s no doubt that if the real Japan turns up he will turn this into a procession. At his best he is a genuine Group 1 performer and he is getting weight from his main market rival Trueshan, who is 4lb inferior judged on their best Racing Post Ratings.

However, the reason Japan gets weight in this Group 3 is because he hasn’t shown his best form for a long time. He failed to score last season and it is now nearly two years since he recorded a career-best RPR of 125 when landing the Juddmonte International at York.
