Tuite bids for further success over jumps with Black Kalanisi

Joseph Tuite is best known for training winners on the Flat but he has a decent record with a small but select team over obstacles. In the last five seasons he has saddled three winners from just 13 runners over jumps and he is 1-5 this campaign.
Black Kalanisi was responsible for that victory in a novice handicap chase at Plumpton last month. That was just a three-runner race but it was competitive nevertheless and Black Kalanisi put in the best round of the trio in a race where the jumping left a lot to be desired.
This will be a stiffer test against a bigger field of experienced chasers, but Black Kalanisi has gone up only 4lb and Daryl Jacob, who rode last time, is 3-6 for the Tuite stable over jumps.
There are three course specialists in the line-up, with Antony, Mortens Leam and Earth Moor combining for six wins between them at the figure-of-eight track.
Mortens Leam looks the pick of the trio. He was a good second over three miles at Kempton last time, but that trip stretches his stamina and this drop in distance by two and a half furlongs will suit.
The final word must go to 2018 Albert Bartlett winner Kilbricken Storm. He had the likes of Santini, Chris’s Dream and Paisley Park behind when successful in that Cheltenham contest, but his career has gone in a different direction to that top-class trio in the last two seasons.
Kilbricken Storm proved he retains some of the old sparkle when beaten less than nine lengths by Paisley Park in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham in January and a reproduction of that form over fences would give him a real chance. He has one win from three starts over fences but was pulled up in a handicap chase at Bangor last time and needs to bounce back.

What they say
Joe Tizzard, assistant to Colin, trainer of Kilbricken Storm
He's coming down the handicap and Harry Cobden looked after him at Bangor first time out where he pulled up. He has that run under his belt and is down in class, so he should step up on that.
Philip Hobbs, trainer of Earth Moor
He ran very well for a long way on his debut over fences at Stratford. He likes soft ground which he is likely to encounter here and goes there with a decent each-way chance.
Joe Tuite, trainer of Black Kalanisi
He won very well last time at Plumpton when he jumped well and this looks the next logical step. If he turns up in that sort of form he'll go close and I've been pleased with him at home since.
Charlie Mann, trainer of The Dubai Way
He's lost his way a little but he'll like the ground and the trip will suit so hopefully he can step up.
Milton Harris, trainer of Aintree My Dream
It's a quick turnaround for him as he only ran seven days ago when he finished a close second at Lingfield. He's a lovely old servant for us but is a victim of his own consistency in many ways and gets little respite from the handicapper.
Gary Moore, trainer of Antony
Fontwell is a track he's run well at in the past and he goes there on the back of two solid runs this season. He's back in trip which will help and he goes there with another good shout.
