Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at Newcastle
Following jumps action at Carlisle and Lingfield, Newcastle takes over in the evening with a seven-race card, starting at 5.00. Here are three runners to keep an eye on.
Kingdom Of Dubai
6.30 Newcastle
This Roger Varian-trained colt has finished fourth on his two starts, both at Kempton, and has shaped with promise. The son of Iffraaj was a €50,000 purchase from the Arqana May Breeze-Up last year and looks set to play a big hand in this 7f novice contest.
Captain Lars
7.30 Newcastle
Greenfield Racing's ultra-tough nine-year-old takes a significant step down in class this evening having run in Class 2 and Class 3 company on his last two starts.
Back down to Class 5, the Archie Watson-trained runner looks the one to beat and can register a first win at Newcastle and a 24th in total.
Dandy Highwayman
8.00 Newcastle
Dandy Highwayman has won two of his last three starts over course and distance and bids to defy a 3lb rise for his narrow victory last month.
The five-year-old, who has won five of his 27 starts, seems to have become a Newcastle specialist and will once again be partnered by apprentice Harry Russell, who guided him to success last time.
